Damage

Overview
Damage is a key Gameplay mechanic in Soulframe. It can be inflicted by Weapons, Pacts, Foes and Hazards. It is more than just a way to reduce an opponent's Life to 0 - it comes in different forms, adept at overcoming specific defenses and inflicting unique effects.
There are currently 11 types of damage in Soulframe, each adept at overcoming specific defenses and inflicting unique effects:
Note that these currently use Warframe icons as a placeholder, due to the two games' shared codebase until Soulframe's damage types receive further tuning and icons of their own.
Damage Caps
Many sources of damage will scale to higher values based on the relevant stats. Most of these scaling damage values are capped in one way or another:
Weapon Damage Caps
Weapons will scale with their attuned Virtues until reaching their Attune Cap. Once the weapon is Rank 30 and this cap has been reached, the weapon will have attained the Damage Cap displayed on its corresponding page.
This is the Damage Cap for the weapon itself, and does not include additional buffs, either temporary (such as Runes or
) or permanent (such as Totems or
). However, it is possible to use temporary Virtue buffs, such as
Echo Stones, to reach a weapon's Damage Cap prior to external damage buffs.
Note that Heavy Attack damage is not displayed correctly in the in-game UI at the current time - read the Damage Data section for information on how accurate damage values are calculated.
For more information on how weapons scale with Virtues, see Attunement. For information on how weapons' Damage Caps have been calculated, see Damage Data.
Pact Arcanic Damage Caps
Pact Arcanics that deal damage to Foes will often scale with their corresponding Virtue. In the case of some, but not all, Arcanics, this damage will be capped at a maximum value - where known, this will be presented on the Arcanic's page.
Once example is
, which will scale with the Envoy's Armour stats until reaching its Damage Cap.
Visual Display Cap
Soulframe's sister game, Warframe, has a visual display cap of 2,147,483,520 Damage, which is the limit of a 32-bit signed integer. Due to being developed in the same engine, it is likely that Soulframe shares this display cap - however, due to its more grounded and intentionally-paced combat, it is unlikely that this cap will ever be seen outside of bugs.
