Gather your tokens, Envoys; it's time for a game of Regatta. Play with Avakot, or with your friends in one of Soulframe's social hubs!

Overview

Regatta is a minigame based on the historical Royal Game of Ur. It can be played either with Avakot, in his world encounters outside of the Alca's Children Enclave; or with other players in Social Hubs such as Enclaves or the Eternium Gardens, by interacting with an Envoy performing the 'Sit' emote.

Goal

The goal of the game is to be the first player to get all four of your tokens to the final space on the board. The final space will fill with the phases of the moon as you land each of your tokens.

On Your Turn

Against Avakot, the Envoy begins the game. On your turn, you will toss four coins. The number of coins that land face-up will be the number of spaces you will move.

Each turn, you may choose to either:

  • Introduce a new player token (red sun) to the board.
  • Move an existing player token forward on the board.

An Opposing (Star) Token

Hovering over a token will show the potential move on the board - if the move is possible, it will display in green, and if it is not possible, it will display in red. You may not move a token onto the same tile as another of your own pieces, or an opposing (blue star) token on a Shield Tile.

If no move is possible, the player's turn will be skipped.

Capturing an Opponent's Token

If your move will end on a Sword Tile occupied by an opposing token, you will send that piece back to their pile. Beware; your opponent may do the same to your unprotected tokens.

The top and bottom rows of the board are "safe" for your tokens, as the middle row is the only shared playing field.

Sword Tile

A contested tile, located along the central row of the board. Tokens on contested tiles are vulnerable to being eliminated if landed on by an opposing token, and sent back to the owner's pile.

Shield Tile

When landing on a tile with the Shield icon (three spaces for each player), you may immediately take another turn. Tokens on the central Shield Tile may not be eliminated by opposing tokens.

Final Tile

Land a token on the Final Tile using the exact amount of moves required to reach it, and your moon will grow. Land all 4 tokens to reach a full moon and win the game!

Landing on the Final Tile

Your final coin toss for a token must land it precisely on the final tile (i.e. you cannot make a move that would otherwise have carried the token beyond the tile). If no move is possible, the player's turn will be skipped until they toss the required number of face-up coins.

Rewards

Currently, there are no rewards for winning a game of Regatta; either against Avakot, or against fellow Envoys.

Trivia

  • Regatta used to only be playable as a PvE activity against Avakot, until PvP Regatta was added in Preludes 12.
