Mechanics
Upon consuming The Cogah, local Foes and Agari will temporarily despawn to be replaced with their Cogah counterparts, and the Time will be shifted to 11 minutes until Day.
- All overworld Agari will be marked on the map, but all other map markers will disappear.
- Digital Extremes have confirmed that Dungeon Agari will be added to this map view in a future update.
- Since World Trees and Enclaves are no longer marked on the map, the player may not Fast Travel.
- Sparrow's Tales will be disabled, but all other Votives will still be playable.
- Vadagar pools will remain, and are reactivated if previously fought; this applies to wild spawns only, not those fought via Tales.
Under The Cogah, Midrath bears new burdens:
- Enemy level is increased to 50, and enemies gain further levels as Agari or Siege Bosses are slain.
- Arcanics take twice as long to recharge.
- Envoys can withstand less Stagger.
- Regain Bars will begin to decay immediately upon taking damage.
Life Elixirs scarcely drop, and self-healing is reduced.- Envoys in a group must Revive each other to stay in The Cogah; they may not fly back to their fallen frame.
The Cogah ritual will end if:
- All Envoys perish
- All Envoys flee from active combat with an Agari, or surrender a Siege.
- The player relogs (as even if they were in Multiplayer, they will not be able to rejoin the session).
- The player enters the Eternium Gardens.
There is no time limit to the Cogah, but it will end upon logging out, and will not persist across sessions. If an Envoy wishes to stay in Cogah for their next game session, they must consume another
, and enemy levels must be risen again.
Lore Notes
Below are the Lore Notes obtained by drinking
:
'Fore humans there were Fey, 'fore Fey there were fauna, 'fore fauna, there was Agaric. Twisted and warted and consuming and being consumed.
From Agaric, the Fey learned much. Sister to the sap of the voicing trees, Agaric spoke to those who consumed it. Not in words but in washes of will. To consume and be consumed. These wills, the Fey learned to follow.
Many eras passed. Much was consumed. All forgot whose will was whose. One and the same, the whims of mushroom and Fey. A network of minds, comprised Alca's own. A chaos, a balance, was struck.
Enemies of the Fey grew ill from gorging on Agaric. It grew in thick circles 'round their heads where they slept. They became the Agari, stupored and strengthened and marked for consumption.
So Fey witches brewed elixirs of Agaric and Sap. Fey warriors drank them down. Stupored and strengthened and marked to consume, they hunted the Agari. The rite of The Cogah, it became.
For when the Agari fell, Agaric grew in circles 'round their corpses. Sunken into the earth, the consuming became consumed. Alca was fed and Agaric were fed and Fey were fed.
The Fey have long left for their haven in Eldveil... But the Agaric hunger still. So too do the Agari, stupored and strengthened and marked for consumption. And the Fey watch 'yond the veil. Waiting. Willing. For The Cogah to be performed once more.
