The Spellsong

THE SPELLSONG
The Spellsong
The Spellsong
Overview
The Spellsong is a magical auditory weapon used by the Ode to charm the denizens of Midrath. It causes its victim to lose their memories, and to forget their own history and culture. Its effects are not limited to humans - even animals, such as
Ode'n Wardogs, may fall under the Spellsong's influence.[1]
The Spellsong was first used during the night of the Ode's arrival upon Alca to neutralize Midrath's awaiting armies.
One visual indicator of someone under the effect of the Spellsong is glossy, white eyes; such as those seen on
Lady Deoraduring the Torment Stag Fable.
Immunity
Few are immune to the effects of the Spellsong. Those who are include:
- Those too deaf, or even drunk, to have heard its dreadful call;[2]
- The Sproutfolk, who hear sound differently to humans;[3]
- and, presumably, Orengall, who is not Corrupted nor under Ode'n influence when she is met. This may extend to all Omen Beasts, but it is unknown whether Garren Rood or Bromius were also under the effects of the Spellsong whilst corrupted, or merely the
Ichor alone.
