The Fungal Lord

The Fungal Lord is a Mini-Quest in Soulframe. The spores of a Fungal Lord loom near the outcropping of Roods. Beckon the call of a local forager, summon this Fungal Lord, and slay it once and for all.

A plea from a forager of the Roods: I have smelt the spores of a Fungal Lord, one that has taken perch upon our hills. Its summon requires one to place a Toe of Ode, a Neathcap, and a Jaden Drop near its lair. There can be no hunt when such a predatory fruiting body still draws breath. Slay the Fungal Lord, I beseech.

Overview

The Fungal Lord is a Mini-Quest located outside Roods that can be started from the Votive Shrine at the closest World Tree.

Completing the Mini-Quest will teach the Envoy about how Brewing Ingredients may be harvested from specific biomes across Midrath.

Quest Start

Location: Roods World Tree
Trigger: Interact with the Votive Shrine at the World Tree just to the northwest of Roods.

Walkthrough

1. Beginning the Mini-Quest:

Travel to the World Tree just west of Roods in western Midrath. Interact with the Votive Shrine to bring up a request:

"A plea from a forager of the Roods: I have smelt the spores of a Fungal Lord, one that has taken perch upon our hills. Its summon requires one to place a Toe of Ode, a Neathcap, and a Jaden Drop near its lair. There can be no hunt when such a predatory fruiting body still draws breath. Slay the Fungal Lord, I beseech."

2. Forage Fungi

The Envoy will be directed to collect 3 different fungi from around Midrath. It is recommended to gather the

Jaden Drop

and

Toe of Ode

first due to their proximity:

Just to the west of the World Tree is Birdie's Bog; a large swamp, and an excellent source of Jaden Drop.

Plains refer to the open, grassy, non-forested regions of Midrath's overworld.

The foothills surrounding the nearby village of Roods are perfect for

; keep an eye out for a faintly purple-glowing mushroom, unlike the green

or the red

Fire Fungus

Many of the Agari may also drop Toe of Ode.

Forage 3 Neathcap within Neath'uns

Neathcap

can be obtained by smashing

Amber Deposits

in the Neath'uns Dungeon. The nearest entrance is a fair distance to the east, via the Central Forest Entrance in the forests to the southeast of Oro's Well.

3. Find the Fungal Lord's hill within Roods

Climb to the peak of the hill found east of Roods, past the Dermak Undercity ruins.

4. Plant Fungi

Atop the hill, the Envoy will find three dirt mounds which glow under Spectral Sight. These can be interacted with by pressing the Use input (Default F) to plant the Jaden Drop, Toe of Ode, and Neathcap.

5. Slay the Fungal Lord

Upon planting the final ingredient, fungi will begin sprouting from the ground, similar to the

Agaric

that sprouts in the wake of a freshly-slain Agari.

This will culminate in the 'Fungal Lord': far from a fearsome foe, it is simply an oversized Neathcap. Interact with it to "kill" it, completing the Mini-Quest.
