Algamest, also described as the Mistress of the Thread, is a Deity in Midrathian mythology, and is said to have woven a great web across the skies of Alca.^[1][2]

The lore of the

Oro’s Ranger

^[4] Prism and the history of Salzbrim Port^[5] implies that the "Great Weave" created by Algamest may be considered a literal weave of fate or web of stars in Midrathian mythology. For Oro was taught to read this weave by his father,

- and is described as "half god, half sibyl". A sibyl is described as a sage or oracle, implying that the all-seeing Oro may be revered for his ability to see not only all that happens - but perhaps all that fate shall ordain.^[1]

Algamest may bear some connection to the 'Great Spyder' worn upon

head, due to the shared themes of prophetism and spiders' webs: "May your sword find respect. Or once more, my neck? The great Spyder will tell."^[6]

Almagest may also be connected to a unique language; Spyderlect, a curse-d speech that was recorded within the Pensives' tomes. Recited words often act as spells, allowing one to even extend their lifespan.
